40 Days of Fasting & Repentance
​for the American Church
​and on Behalf of our Nation 
April 8th through May 18th, 2024

The Total Solar Eclipse on April 8th was a sign in the heavens marking a very significant window of time.

Throughout Scripture God reveals He uses the sun, moon and stars to communicate with us, marking signs and seasons (Genesis 1:14, Luke 21:25, Acts 2:17-21).


On Monday, April 8th, a total solar eclipse crossed North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada. The prophetic significance of the “signs in the heavens” surrounding this phenomenon are astounding, weighty, and call for a response.
 
Let’s consider the signs in this coming eclipse and what heart posture we believe God is looking for from His people:

• The path of eclipse passed over 6 States and 1 Province in Canada with cities named Nineveh (Texas, Missouri, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and Nova Scotia). 2 of the cities named Nineveh were in the direct path of the eclipse, and so was the city of Jonah, Texas!

 

• The eclipse took place under the constellation, Cetus, which is the whale constellation. 

 

• At the time of the eclipse, “The Devil’s Comet” officially known as Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks was in our galaxy and was visible. This last happened in 1954. The spiritual battle between good and evil is very real! We must know who our true enemy is. God loves all people and His plan is to give us life and life abundantly. Satan’s plan is to kill, steal, and destroy. The future of America is in the balance; we must return and align with God. 

 

• Biblical eclipses can mark times of judgement, as occurred with Nineveh. In the 19th century, ancient tablets were discovered that describe the Bur-Sagale eclipse; the totality of this eclipse landed directly over Nineveh while Jonah was there preaching the 40-day warning of the coming destruction. Because of this, the people realized this was a sign from God indicating that what Jonah was saying was true. They repented and God spared their nation. 40 days from our April 8th eclipse comes to May 18, 2024 – the day before Pentecost. We must prepare the way through fasting and repentance for a great outpouring of God’s Spirit. “In the last days, God says, I will pour out my Spirit on all people… I will show wonders in the heavens above and signs on the earth below… And everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.” (See Acts 2:17-21.)

We believe, just as in the days of Nineveh, God is putting out a call to save a nation. There is a window of opportunity for us to repent, turning our hearts to God once again.

“If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” (2 Chronicles 7:14)

It only takes a remnant to lift up the soul of America before the throne of God!

The collapsing of the Francis Scott Key Bridge on 3/26/24 is a sobering prophetic parallel to the collapsing of our freedom and is another sign of the urgent call to fast and pray, taking a stand against the bombardment of evil spiritual forces. The bridge was named after the man who penned the words that became our United States National Anthem, “The Star-Spangled Banner.”

In the War of 1812, faced against the greatest military in the world, American forces held their ground as British warships sent a downpour of shells and rockets onto Fort Henry in the Baltimore harbor, relentlessly pounding the American fort for 25 hours. Francis Scott Key, from the Baltimore Harbor, witnessed the siege and wrote “It seemed as though mother earth had opened up and was vomiting shot and shell in sheet of fire and brimstone.” Given the scale of the attack through hours of darkness he was certain the British would win, but in the clearing smoke of “the dawn’s early light” he saw the American flag flying over the fort, announcing an American victory. 

Faithful intercessors, we must lift up the soul of America before the Throne of Grace in repentance with a plea for mercy. Against all odds we must hold the line in intercession, becoming the spiritual bridge that holds up America in the midst of the bombardment of an evil agenda.

Two-Part Repentance: For the American Church and on behalf of our Nation

Repentance on behalf of the American Church - The state of our nation is a direct result of the state of the Church in our nation. We are the gatekeepers to our soul, homes, cities and nation. In order to have the measure of authority needed to stand up against global wickedness we must unite and humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways, then God will hear from Heaven, forgive our sins, and heal our land. (2 Chronicles 7:14)

Repentance for our Nation – Our nation needs to return to God. America is naked, poor, divided, and in so much pain. Our Father longs to heal our land and there is only one remedy: His name is Jesus. We must come into identificational repentance with the sin of America and call her into righteousness through a great awakening.  

“Even now, declares the Lord, return to me with all your heart, with fasting, weeping, and mourning.… Return to the Lord, your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger, abounding in loving kindness, and relenting of evil. Who knows whether he will not turn and relent… Blow a trumpet in Zion, consecrate a fast, proclaim a solemn assembly gather the people, sanctify the congregation, assemble the elders.”  ​
